Badis tuivaiei is a small predatory fish known for its distinct color changes depending on mood, environment, and stress levels. Males are generally more vibrant than females and can be territorial, especially during breeding. They prefer a heavily planted tank with plenty of hiding spots and a sandy substrate to mimic their natural environment. Feeding requires a varied diet of live or frozen foods such as daphnia, brine shrimp, and mosquito larvae. They are not fast swimmers and hence should be housed with gentle tank mates.
