Betta stigmosa

Betta stigmosa are known for their unique markings and peaceful nature compared to many other Betta species. They enjoy environments with dense vegetation and shallow waters. They require well-oxygenated water and frequent partial water changes to remain healthy. Their breeding involves building bubble nests, and the male typically guards the nest until fry are free-swimming. They are also known to be a bit shy, needing plenty of hiding spots like rocks, caves, and driftwood to feel secure. Due to their sensitive nature, they are best housed alone or with species that do not include fin-nipping, aggressive behaviors, or cause high competition for food and space. These fish can breed through pairs or harems, as long as there is enough space and vegetation. Feeding-wise, Betta stigmosa are carnivorous and appreciate a varied diet comprising of live or frozen foods like daphnia, blood worms, and brine shrimp.
