Cynodon gibbus is a robust species requiring spacious tanks due to its active nature and large size. Housing them in a biotope aquarium that mimics their natural environment is best, with plenty of swimming space and minimal decorations. They are carnivorous, feeding on smaller fish and invertebrates in the wild, so a diet of high-quality carnivore pellets, live, or frozen foods is ideal. Care should be taken if housed with smaller or more passive fish species due to their predatory nature. A securely covered tank is recommended since they are known to be powerful jumpers.
