Terapon jarbua is a euryhaline species, known for its resilience in varying salinity levels, allowing it to inhabit estuaries, coastal lagoons, and brackish habitats. They have a notable ability to emit a growling sound when caught, hence one of their common names, 'Grunter'. In captivity, maintaining stable water conditions and providing ample space for swimming are crucial for their health. While adaptive, they are best kept in larger tanks with proper filtration to simulate their natural environment.
